A project I really like, Hollaback!, needs your help! From an email I received this morning:
“Hollaback! is a movement to end street harassment. We believe that everyone should have the right to feel safe, confident, and sexy without feeling threatened or endangered in public space.
We’re raising funds to develop an iPhone app that will enable real-time tracking of street harassment, and the collection of the good data we need to make a real impact in the policy realm. We’re scaling up. It’s exciting. It’s a movement. And I need your help.
We a running a campaign on Kickstarter. We’ve raised $5000 so far and we need to raise another $7,500 to make the iPhone app happen. Here’s the catch: if we don’t raise the other $7,500 in the next nine days, we don’t get any of the money.
Why does it matter? The iPhone app will allow folks to report on-the-go their harassment stories - constituting the first ever data collected on when and where street harassment happens in history. Yes, in history. We will map it and take it to the media, policymakers, and whoever else will listen. We will change culture and policy. With the touch of a button, we will turn harassment into history.
But we won’t do any of this unless we raise $7500 in 9 days. So donate now. (I just did!) Even 5, 10, 20 dollars is a big help, as it shows other Kickstarter users that the project has momentum and should be funded by them too! It’s tax-deductable too.”
I donated! Please do so as well!

Ouch! Sting! Burn!
I’ve been contacted by the Project Runway casting team because they’re looking for applicants for Season 8. They’ve asked me to send their flier out to my contacts and post it for my customers as they’re searching for “the best talent in fashion design.” Well, Project Runway casting team, I have twice applied for Project Runway, and I have twice been rejected from the show. Read about my rejection here on the Huffington Post: An Open Letter to Project Runway. I’ll post your flier, sure, but you know, salt in the wound.

Friends of AuH2O! Since I’ve had such great interns in the past, I told my friend I’d help him find one for this coming semester. Internships are great real-life experience, and my friend is very established (and an all around cool person), so check out this post and pass on to anyone you think may be interested!
Internship with award-winning writer
Award-winning writer of fiction, nonfiction, and humor (published by McSweeney’s, The New York Times, New York magazine, Wine Spectator, Men’s Health, Agni, ARTnews, The Threepenny Review, and many others) seeking an intern. The work will include some combination of:
-background research for a novel, a nonfiction book, and/or a screenplay;
-article pitches to magazines
-keeping a finger on the pulse of which publications are new and hot
-help with applications for fellowships/residencies at artists’ colonies
I want you to enjoy the work you’re doing and feel comfortable being creative in how you approach it. A couple of other things to keep in mind: my office is in the Village; this is an unpaid position, but I cook good lunches.
Please send me a resume, and tell me briefly 1.) why you think you would be good in this position and 2.) why you think you would have fun doing it. Also, let me know if you have a blog, website, or social-networking page that would give me a greater sense of your personality.
